Welcome to Barnsley Commissioning Consortium
In March 2011 Barnsley Association of Commissioning and Training Surgeries (BACTS) ceased and reformed as a new commissioning group namely Barnsley Commissioning Consortium (BCC).
"We, the Consortium, will commission high quality care for the people of Barnsley. We will achieve this by working collaboratively with each other, promoting partnership within our wider health and social care community, and by building constructive relationships with our patients, the public and our clinical colleagues. Success will be measured by improved patient outcomes, improved patient experience of the services we commission and cost effective use of resources."
Our Commitment as GPs
As your local GPs we are completely committed to looking after your health needs to the best of our ability and securing the best services we can for you. The economic pressures are very challenging for us all. Some people think that GPs might make money out of commissioning. There are strict rules in place to prevent profiting and if there are any savings made they will be reinvested in local services for Barnsley people. It's as simple as that.
Barnsley Commissioning Consortium covers a practice population of 92,327 which is approximately 37.7% of Barnsley. We have in excess of 70 GPs.
